Why i created Walaal

Hi, I’m Shakuur — the person behind Walaal.

I created Walaal because I believe no one should have to figure out life in Australia completely on their own.

Whether you’re new to Australia, looking for work, starting your studies, trying to understand a service, finding support, or simply wondering where to begin — sometimes the hardest part is knowing where to start.

That’s what Walaal is here for.

A place to find guidance, useful information, tools and community — all in one place.

Walaal means “brother” or “sister” in Somali, and that idea is at the heart of what I’m building: looking out for one another.

This is the first story on Walaal.

And hopefully, it’s the first of many.
