Be respectful
People arrive at Walaal from many backgrounds and circumstances. Lead with patience and kindness, and assume good intent.
No harassment or hate
Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or intimidation are not welcome here. This includes behaviour targeting someone’s race, religion, nationality, language, gender, sexuality, disability, or migration status.
No scams or exploitation
Do not use Walaal to deceive, pressure, or exploit others — including asking for money under false pretences, offering paid “guaranteed” outcomes, or taking advantage of someone’s uncertainty.
Protect private information
Do not share another person’s private details — such as contact information, documents, or location — without their clear permission. Be mindful that sensitive details belong in private tools, not public posts.
Safe mentor behaviour
Mentors offer guidance voluntarily and should keep interactions respectful, relevant, and within their own expertise. Do not share passwords, financial details, identity documents, or other highly sensitive information with a mentor. If you choose to meet a mentor in person, use a safe, appropriate public setting and consider letting someone you trust know where you are. Mentors are not a replacement for qualified professionals.
Reporting
If you see something harmful or feel unsafe, report it through the Contact page. Walaal administrators can review reported content and take appropriate action.
Admin moderation
Walaal administrators can review and remove community content (such as stories), and can keep submitted stories from appearing publicly until they are approved. They may also restrict access where these guidelines are seriously or repeatedly broken. Decisions aim to protect the community and the people most at risk.
Protecting vulnerable community members
Walaal pays special care to people who are new, isolated, or in difficult circumstances. When in doubt, we prioritise their safety and dignity.
A warm note
Most people use Walaal with genuine goodwill. These guidelines exist to protect that spirit — thank you for being part of it.
